Tomatoes are one of the most convenient plants to grow in containers and even if the only area you have is a 12 inch square on your front porch, you have enough room for a tomato container garden. When picking tomato plants for your containers, select strong, stocky plants to transplant into the containers. Location the tomato plants in the container, three or 4 per container with between 3 to 4 inches between plants. Water the container completely, making sure the soil is soaked all the way down to the roots and below of the tomato plant. Water the containers more typically than a standard garden due to the fact that container gardens will dry out more quickly. |
