Abstract

This article is based on an educational research which analyzed the distance interaction that was developed among students from the Universidad Tecnologica de la Costa, in the State of Nayarit, Mexico, within the discussion forums on the Moodle platform. The research took the theoretical benchmark model of Gunawardena, Lowe and Anderson (1997) to recognize the levels of interaction that were developed during the learning activities among students and guided by an instructor, as well as to identify the meaningful construction of knowledge among students in the Advanced Programming course, which it belongs to the career degree in Information Technology and Communication Systems. This course was based on an educational model based on a blended learning approach. The investigation followed a quantitative approach to conduct a descriptive study with a non-experimental and transactional (across) process. The results show that all levels of the Gunawardena, Lowe and Anderson model (1997) within the learning activities had active interactions, however, in particular, two levels of interaction were predominant: Identify agreements and Negotiation and co-construction of knowledge, followed closely by other levels, such as: Clarification of terms.
