Abstract

Educational institutions generate much information every day, management can make the difference between them. Recently, the Instituto Tecnologico de Sonora (ITSON) has been developed and implemented a knowledge management model that can capture, classify and use information and knowledge, which can be transformed into products or services that create value, and also solves the problem of loss of knowledge. So far it is unknown what impact this model in institutional work, which is why the aim of this study was to evaluate the model of knowledge management to guide decision-making in terms of its functionality and contribution strategic objectives of the institution. An instrument consisting of eleven categories and 67 items, was administered to 225 participants, of whom 112 belonged to the administrative area and 113 to the academic. With these results, we can say that the model is having a favorable impact on general terms of the administrative staff considered favorable, since in all categories their responses were directed to "always" or "frequently." As the academic area, their answers were more dispersed in the scale of measurement used (since frequently until you know). The model is a medium maturity level, which means it has a good chance of success. However, there are still improvements to be made in all categories studied but mainly in the content, processes, technology and culture aimed at sharing. The growth prospects of the model of knowledge management are high.
