Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education has evolved to integrating advanced models such as ChatGPT, and it’s therefore conceived as a complementary tool that promotes personalized learning and processes optimization, despite some ethical challenges related to access inequalities, algorithmic biases, dehumanization, and the fear of teacher replacement. This study explored the social representations of AI from basic education teachers in Aguascalientes, through a narrative analysis of short stories, identifying four thematic cores: technological conception of AI, educational uses, benefits, and critical considerations. Although the findings reveal an optimistic view, they are marked by contradictions. The study concludes by emphasizing the need for critical technological literacy that guides the ethical, contextualized, and equitable use of AI in Basic Education
