Learning management from the personal learning environments

A new term appears in the first years of this century, Personal Learning Environments (PLE), a concept that seeks to integrate technological with pedagogical aspect of learning in a wider environment of socialization and exchange of ideas through self-managed actions. The search, selection and analysis of information, identified as core competencies within the Knowledge Society, and as well as the storage, representation and sharing of new learning, are some of the actions that students are required to make in their school career, and knowing how to use technology, greatly facilitates the accomplishment of these tasks. In order to know the impact that ICT has had on the development of PLE by college students, we analyzed the results of a quantitative research realized at the Centro Universitario del Sur of the Universidad de Guadalajara. Some of the dimensions that were included in the survey framed in the theory of the PLE were: increase and diversification of communication, search and sharing of information and learning management. As for the technological aspect, we measured the frequency and command that students have in using ICT.References
